Corn & Soybean Planting – Roger Elmore, Nebraska Extension agronomist, explains recommendations for corn and soybean planting dates. Roger also discusses soybean planting population and seed treatments. The CropWatch website has more information on initial planting dates for crop insurance in corn and soybeans.

Inoculating Soybeans – Nathan Mueller, Nebraska Extension cropping systems educator, describes the nitrogen needs of soybeans. Nathan says before growers decide to inoculate their soybeans, they should answer four specific questions.

Youth Corn Challenge – Brandy VanDeWalle, Nebraska Extension educator, talks about the 2015 Innovative Youth Corn Challenge contest. Participants must fill out an entry form by April 1. The contest is sponsored by Nebraska Extension and the Nebraska Corn Board.

Custom Hog Feeding Bill – LB176 would authorize custom feeding contracts between packers and pork producers in Nebraska. Dave Aiken, Nebraska Extension water and ag law specialist, explains the proposal and why other states have added extra provisions to further protect producers.
